2005-08-08 [buddy love]: ok, pleeze tell me, who wouldnt want ta b in there varsity band, thats jus crazy. varsity band at my skewl, is jus bein a squad leader. there might b a varsity an jv band next year, but not this year. theres 13 guys on the drumline, an im squad leader. an weve got a big band, im tellin ya. over 100 kids in the band. the best we can do is the ensambles: wind, brass, percussion: an all of them are the best in our district. dont think im braggin, wait a min i am, but thats good. i didnt even go ta band camp or anything lik that. never hav an probably never will cuz my summers r always filled up

2005-08-09 [Aurea]: Our varsity band is the one the all of our tenth graders are just shoved into. I'm stuck in it with the people who don't really care about band. The people who don't practice. The people who don't try. The people who talk every time they stop playing.

We don't have a drumline or special marching band or anything of the sort. We never have. Basically, concert band is a lot of freshman, wind ensemble is just about everybody else who wants to perform anything else besides jazz, and then jazz band.
2005-08-09 [buddy love]: the way our school is run is that everyone is in marching band and concert band. jazz band is an elctive, symphony and wind ensamble are really the only way our band is catagorized. and the drumline (thats me) is only for those special people who think theyre the best musicians in the band, seein as the band is dead, without the percussion

2005-08-11 [Nympho Goddess's Virgin Slut]: *giggles* At my school all the people who can't play an instrument go to percussion.. we had an oboeist that couldn't play his instrument, and in the second semester we couldn't find him.... we thought he had quit... come to find out they put him in percussion. *grins* I'm proud to say I'm a clarinetist.. plus many other things... Clarinet is just my primary... our Jazz Band is an after school thing we had to pay for... yeah... but we had our three other bands (Concert, Symphonic, and Wind Symphony) but they just took out our 3rd band (Concert) yeah.. and we have a marching band during football season.. but that's it... no need for it outside of football season really...

2005-08-12 [Aurea]: Nympho's. Nympho's. I'm saying the only reason that the percussion section would be for the untalented people would be if the school's bands weren't very good all together. And also, I'm only saying that it's harder than it might seem. A few years ago, I thought that battery guys were all stupid morons. I found out this year that most of them are in honors classes and most of them have great senses of humor. Also, it seems to me that drumline people (more battery than pit) practice more than any other section, carrying there drumsticks around every where and beating on anything hard. 2005-08-12 [Aurea]: on the vibraphone this year and most of our show (which is at 180 bpm) is played with four mallets... That makes most other things seem a lot easier. Not to say that I'm that good. There are plenty of people with faster hands, including someone who's new to percussion this year.)
2005-08-12 [buddy love]: see what i mean, its all mentallity. yes, we tendency hav the people who suck at everything else, but we turn them into musicians. and yes, we are the ones that practice the most and the hardest, and have a tendency to b critisized cuz we r either told we practice to much or start to annoy people becuz we practice so much. and why are triplets so hard, cuz theyre faster than 1/16 notes, and 6lets are even faster and harder, especially when u are tryin ta put them into combonations. u said u play at 180 right, well 1/16 notes at that speed are fast enough, but then u add triplets and sixlets it takes a good ear ta tell the difference between a 6let and a roll. and triplets on bells and vibs

2005-08-15 [Nympho Goddess's Virgin Slut]: It's a huge joke at my school.. our bassoonist and oboeist (now drum major) were all apart of our drumline... all of our pit and battery instruments are very talented... and there's no way you can tell me that the kids in your band don't harass the other sections about being "worse than their section" it happens at every school.brass picks on Woodwinds and Percussion... Perc. picks on WW and Brass and WW pick on Brass and Perc. (and BTW.. I used to be part of my school's drumline and in the pit.. and I was first chair clarinet)

Right now it's the clarinets, the seciton I'm in. But I think soon it will be the saxes.

2005-09-23 [Aurea]: predictions for the BOA Superregionals in St. Louis. I guessed that our band would be about fourth, but made a point of saying I hadn't seen most of the bands that would be there, and that it was only a guess based on how many bands were competing. A few people, didn't catch on to that, so I posted again (after receiving my first warning) saying that it was entirely a guess and i had nothing to base it on. So, another guy from my school sends me a message (in a rather jerk-ish tone) that tells me to "quit posting" altogether. At that point I was kind of fed up and replied to him rather rudely, but... oh well...
2005-09-25 [Eryn.]: we went to a compition yesterday and when we got onto the field it started to ran. we marched anyways, when we stopped, the ran stopped and it didn't ran anymore. at the award ceremony, we had superior ratings and we were announced best in class drum majors,(we don't have majorettes anymore) dance line, colorguard, and band.WE WON THE ENTIRE COMPITION IN THE RAIN!!!!
2005-09-27 [Aurea]: Dude that happened to one of the bands at the competition we went to on Saturday. You weren't at Irondale, were you? ('cause that would be kinda funny). We got second place at that one, as well as outstanding guard and winds. It was actually our double show day. The other show, though, was tiny and we were the only band in our class, so they combined the caption awards between A and AA. We got percussion, guard, winds, and soloist there, but missed DMs to another school. And, obviously, first place in our class (kind of a no-duh, but...). It was amazing, because our score jumped like 8 points between the two competitions (we didn't use our tarps in the first show).

My band won at the Festival of Bands in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Saturday! We also got oustanding percussion (our only percussion caption this year- our last two comps. are home show and BOA) and oustanding winds. It was pretty awesome. ANd then I got a really good hug from a guy I now really, really like! He gives the best hugs in the world, but he's a senior this year and I'm a sophomore... :(
